Wireless communication is a pervasive part of all our lives from broadcast radio to the ubiquitous mobile phones. In this class you will learn to be able to build and test wireless communication systems. It will start with core measurement tools and then build skills used in the design and deployment of point-to-point links and mobile cellular networks.
This course primarily aims at giving a hands-on knowledge of wireless communication systems. Students will develop an understanding of the challenges to making wireless systems work as well as the tools to design, deploy, and diagnose actual systems.
By the end of this course, students will know the primary considerations in deploying a wireless system. Though radio signals cannot be seen, students will be able to “see” how signals interact with the world and thus have a deeper intuition when working on wireless systems.
