CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) in partnership with Mastercard Foundation is receiving abstracts for its inaugural Meeting of the Minds annual research symposium from 15th - 16th March 2019 in Kigali, Rwanda. This year’s theme: “Harnessing Africa’s potential through research”, will explore ways in which academia can catalyze Africa’s innovation economy through research with a specific focus on STEM innovations that can address problems and opportunities in Africa. Researchers will share their findings through keynotes, poster sessions and workshops. They will also explore best practices in research, publishing and accessing research funding.
Abstracts will only be accepted from current Scholars or alumni of a Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program or invited institutions: Ashesi University, University of Abomey-Calavi, University of Gondar, African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Town, FAWE, CAMFED, African Leadership University, University of Pretoria, Makerere University, University of Rwanda and Carnegie Mellon University Africa.
CMU-Africa will cover round trip airfare to and from Kigali, accommodation, meals and local transportation for one Scholar from eligible partner institutions. Institutions may choose to send an additional Scholar provided their abstract is selected and that the institution can cover all costs related to their trip.
Submit a one or two page abstract of your research in pdf format here. Abstracts will be evaluated based on the quality of the research question being addressed, the methodology, the results and analyses so far. Accepted abstracts will be invited to submit a full research paper and present a poster on the first day of the conference.
