Master’s practicums are a great way for students to get practical experience solving real-world industry problems facing specific companies.
During a master’s practicum project, students are brought into a company as a consulting team, giving them the opportunity to not only work with industry, but to also leverage their peers’ skills and learn from each other.
Practicum projects are proposed by companies who have a problem or new idea, but do not have the in-house resources or time to devote to the project.
Faculty advisors provide guidance to ensure that the team follows the prescribed processes and methodologies and that the project is completed on time.
The student consulting team will work 24 hours a week for a full semester on the engineering problem posed by the company. Practicums projects can be completed in either the fall or spring semester.
